Who we are
Our Story
At Utah Laser PMU & Tattoo Removal, our work is rooted in a deep understanding of permanent makeup — not just how it is applied, but how it behaves in the skin over time and how it can be safely corrected.
After years in the permanent makeup industry, our founder, Adrie Buchanan, began seeing a growing number of clients with results that no longer reflected their desired look. Over-saturated brows that had healed grey or black, eyeliner that had migrated or lost definition, and lip pigment that extended beyond the natural border were becoming increasingly common.
What quickly became clear was that traditional removal approaches were not designed for cosmetic tattoo pigments. Methods such as saline removal often produced slow or inconsistent results, while many laser treatments lacked predictability — sometimes leaving pigment unchanged, and other times creating unexpected color shifts such as orange, yellow, or grey.
Rather than accepting these limitations, we built a practice focused specifically on permanent makeup removal and correction, grounded in a detailed understanding of pigment composition and behavior. Cosmetic tattoo pigments can contain iron oxide, organic colorants, and titanium dioxide — all of which respond differently during removal and require a more specialized approach than standard tattoo ink.
Today, our team uses a combination of advanced laser technology and alternative removal methods, including saline, glycolic, and supportive treatments such as microneedling when appropriate. This allows us to address complex cases — including resistant yellow pigment, titanium dioxide, and ink that has darkened or “flipped” during previous treatments — with a more customized and strategic plan.
We are supported by a team of highly trained and experienced laser technicians, all working within a system designed specifically for cosmetic tattoo removal. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, taking into account pigment type, skin response, and long-term goals — whether that is full removal or preparation for correction.
In addition to cosmetic tattoo removal, we utilize advanced pico laser technology for body tattoo removal. Unlike permanent makeup pigments, body tattoo ink typically responds more predictably to laser treatment, and most colors can be effectively lightened or removed over a series of sessions. This makes body tattoo removal a more straightforward process in many cases compared to cosmetic tattoo correction.
What sets our clinic apart is not just the technology we use, but the depth of knowledge behind it. Our background in permanent makeup, combined with advanced training in multiple removal methods, allows us to approach each case with precision, safety, and a clear understanding of how to achieve the best possible outcome.
